Let's Feel Good About Ourselves

Live the life you have. Love the life you live.

So, you've managed to get through the Christmas period and we are now starting on a new year. Let's just take a moment to realise the year we've just had. Was it good for you, was it bad, or was is somewhere in the middle?

If it was good, well done, you lucky thing you. Was it bad, not to worry, things can be improved upon. Was it somewhere in the middle. Well, you can rev it up a gear then.

It's time to feel good about yourself, your achievements, your goals, family, friends and everything else. We've made it through the most troubling times, stuck together and prevailed. Let's look to the future with joy in our hearts and our heads held high. We are worth it, we are worth it, we are worth it. Life goes on, so let's be a part of it.

Call someone you haven't spoken to for a while, send them a text, an email, something..........

Set a goal for this year, it need not be anything grand, just something small and achievable.

Take more walks, even around the block. It will make you feel better and is so good for the waistline.

Go into the garden and keep an eye on the springs bulbs gradually popping up through the soil. Do some weeding whilst you are there.

Grab a few houseplants from the supermarket and place them around the home, green really is one of the most powerful colours of nature and it is good for the sole.

Enjoy your life and all it brings. Take the knocks, change the bad and move on. Live your life to the full and embrace each day.

Give your support this year to your local market or fayre. There are many small markets across the country and you are sure to have one which is being hosted in your local community. Go along, enjoy and give them your support. It is better to have a happy community than a divided one. You can find handmade products which not only support the craftmaker, but you will have yourself a unique gift to give to a loved one. Let's all start appreciating our communities and the people in them. Be happy, be free, be friendly.

           Itchy Skin Problems

I was recently asked to help with a very itchy dog. I got straight to the task and concocted a potion that would befit any furry friend. Of course, we do have to keep in mind that not everything we put on our skin would be suitable for our fur babies, and with this in mind I used the ingredients I know to be safe. I made up a bath solution using colloidal oats with a hint of lavender oil (less is more with essential oils), which would give the initial calming to the itchy skin. Soak your fur baby for around 10 minutes, gently massaging the oats into the skin (keeping away from face at all times). Once the bath is done, dry off with a clean towel and massage a pre-made mix of shea butter, lavender oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil and vitamin E (quantities listed). The bath should only be given one or twice a week at most, until the condition improves.

The oil mixture can be used as and when required.

Always take advice from your vet should a problem persist and never ever use anything on your fur baby that may be harmful or you are unsure of.

The ingredients I used are known to be safe for animals.

           For this recipe I used:

           50g shea butter

           15g coconut oil (refined)

           20g grapeseed oil

           6 drops vitamin E

An added bonus to this recipe is that if your dog licks their fur after the oils have been massaged in, it will not harm them in any way. You could even use the mixture on your own skin - amazing!!

We need to take care of our skin during the colder months as it is prone to drying out, cracking and just generally looking tired. Indoor heating can play a big role in drying out the skin, sucking all the moisture. You really don't need to spend lots of money to keep your skin well nourished, and your skin certainly doesn't need any more man made ingredients thrown at it, so why not try Rosehip Seed Oil. This oil can be used for all skin types and will not leave a greasy feeling on the skin as it soaks in so beautifully. It will nourish and care for your skin, hydrate and help reduce inflamation. Why not try on damp skin just after your bath/shower. It can be used as an all over body moisturiser, especially the face and you will only need a few drops. It will not clog pores and will leave your skin feeling soft as well as helping to create new skin cells. Turn the heating down a notch or two, you will hardly notice the difference in the room warmth but you will sure feel the difference in your pocket and most importantly, we all benefit from your great choice.
